Delta Private Jets is always seeking qualified and experienced pilots who demonstrate the highest professionalism, a dedication to outstanding customer service, and a team-orientation to join Delta Private Jets’ “best of class” charter operations.

What are the hiring standards for Delta Private Jets’ pilots, and how do these qualifications compare with industry standards?

Delta Private Jets’ standards and experience requirements for all crewmembers exceed industry benchmarks and regulatory requirements.

Delta Private Jets’ minimum pilot requirements:
  • Pilot in Command - 3,000 hours total time, 2,000 PIC, 1,000 Turbine, Airline Transport Pilot (ATP), and First Class Medical
  • Second in Command - 2,000 hours total time, 1,000 PIC, 200 hours multi-engine fixed wing, ATP, and First Class Medical
  • Must be type-rated in the aircraft under consideration, preferably also current with some time in type, if not current, the last formal training (approved Part 142 training centers; Simuflite, Bombardier, Flight Safety Inc., etc.), Initial or Recurrent, must be within three years of hire date. Training within two to three years will require a Requalification course, within one year, a Recurrent. Type ratings received from “in-house” training are not acceptable.
  • New hires will generally be at second-in-command entry level positions.
  • PIC positions are normally filled through upgrades, however, DPJ has hired qualified captains when the need arises.
  • As a condition of employment new pilot hires must have a current First Class Medical when offered a position as well as possess and maintain a valid passport. If the new hire is not a U.S. Citizen and possesses a non-U.S. passport, proof of valid residence and employment status (green card) must also be maintained.
Pilot applicants must reside in close proximity (within one hour) of a commercial airport with regular Delta Air Lines (and Delta Air Lines connection carriers) service.

In addition to the above requirements, new pilot hires may be provided with either initial or recurrent training, as appropriate, through approved FAR Part 142 training centers, which will obligate them to a training contract.

Qualified applicants will be pre-screened prior to a formal panel interview by staff and line pilots. Selected applicants will be required to be fingerprinted; drug tested and undergo thorough FAA and law enforcement background checks. Pilot candidates who are on furlough from a scheduled air carrier will have to relinquish their position prior to a hire date.

Candidates are expected to have some other non-aviation life experiences and education, possess outstanding interpersonal skills, and demonstrate an understanding of the importance of customer service.

Pilot candidates who meet the above competitive requirements and agree to Delta Private Jets’ new-hire requirements are invited to apply online through the DPJ website (Careers-Current Openings-Pilots). Please be sure to include a copy of your most recent 8410 or 61.58 training document .

Qualified applicants will be contacted by the Chief Pilot’s office.

Thank you for considering joining Delta Private Jets’ expanding and professional team.
